Sunday Morning Catch Up
This is the first entire cup of coffee I've had at home since our son was born five months ago. I thought I'd share. Work is now typically the place where I can drink coffee and read the paper, but today, my husband has taken our son into his workshop to show him all of 'cool stuff'---I get to drink coffee.
We had another first this weekend. Dinner with friends AND the baby. J.R. and his wife Lisa invited us out. For two people who haven't had kids in the house for a long time, they are SMOOTH---Jedi SMOOTH. Cups, forks, and knives were moved out of the way before I even thought about it. And even though John was spitting out strained carrots and making music with two spoons and screaming with delight (at himself), they still stuck around to have a conversation with us and eat dinner. Even after dinner cocktail. Cool.
On the air Friday, we had the 'best song of the 80's' debate. Great phone calls but no answer (other than from the thundering charge of the Bon Jovi Nation). I loved ALL of the music in the 80's and I think that's why I love ALL kinds of music now---except country. Sorry, I'd much rather listen to Eminem than country, NIN than country, just about anything else than country. So of course, my husband loves country.
Anyone following this Shawn Hornbeck / Michael Devlin story? So scary. I saw the interview with the family on Oprah last week. There's no doubt this Michael Devlin is a monster BUT could this have happened in a community 30 or 40 years ago, when everyone KNEW who their neighbors were? We never know what goes on behind closed doors of someone's home but these neighbors saw and heard things that in their gut they knew was not normal. They chose to just say it was none of their business. It really inspired my husband and I to take some action and get to know our neighbors better and make sure they know us. I guess in my mind I figure that if I see something unusual, or my neighbors see something strange at my house, we will all be more proactive---at least that's my hope. So if you are our neighbors, look out 'cause we're getting nebby this spring. We want you to know us and we're going to know you as much as we can!
Well, I've got a garage full of Christmas decorations that need to go into the attic---hey at least they are not still up in the livingroom. Also gotta get some suppers ready to go for the week. I swear crock pots are the best friend to the new mom.
Take care and talk to you soon,
Kate
