Fast Getaways, Fireworks and Final Thoughts On Paris(ite) Hilton

Fast Getaways-- Are you doing anything fun for the Fourth? We're looking for a weekend getaway that will be 1) pleasant and fun for us 2) our 11 month old son will tolerate and won't be too tormented by in a stroller or car. Email me with your experiences and ideas.

Fireworks---Here's one of those things that happen off the air that we just run out of time to share. We were discussing the holiday and we got on the subject of buying fireworks. I proceed to unleash (unsolicited and undeserved) fury on Bubba and J.R. I HATE fireworks. Not the Zambelli professional display stuff. I LOVE professional displays. I mean the "here's a tent where we can sell explosives to anyone who can hold a beer can and get rowdy between June 28th and July 5th". They're not much fun to see and hear and you never know if they are safe. Our quiet street turns into a Baghdad neighborhood around this time of year. I HATE seeing unidentified, flammable, objects flying toward my yard. I HATE that the unidentified, flammable, LOUD objects frighten the $! out of our dog. And when did this stuff become legal in Pa??? I thought we were a sparkler only state. I know that in Western Pa., I am alone on this one, but it's just one thing that I am so vehemently opposed to that I can never keep my opinion to myself.
Paris(ite) Hilton--- Should the Star Morning Show have a self imposed Paris ban? If so, for how long? I'd be more than happy not discussing her in our daily gossip feature, 'The Dirt', but if listeners REALLY want to know what's she's up to next, then we have to keep talking about her. So, in this informal poll, do you want your Paris updates to continue or would you like to go Paris-free?

in response to fireworks being legal in PA - My boyfriend and I went to one of those tents on Saturday and we actually asked how they were getting away with selling fireworks. The response was that in PA, anything that leaves the ground (mortars and rockets) are illegal, everything else is fair game.
As for hating the fireworks, I don't think they would be so bad if there were some restrictions. They shouldn't be allowed within city limits and there should be hour restrictions. People do have children and inevitably, someone will set off a firework after the children have gone to bed. I realize it is the summer time, but babies and toddlers have set hours and fireworks are disruptive to their sleep patterns.
Fireworks are ok, at the right time and place.

I completely agree with hating the at home fireworks. I was outside last night and almost got hit by two that neighbors were setting off. This isn't Iraq...I shouldn't have to dodge explosive devices in my own yard. One even ended up in our swimming pool... thankfully no damage.

Feel free to drop the Paris talk during The Dirt. Talking about her fuels her celebrity status, and I for one, would love to see her ego deflated.
