"Grown Up" Night and the Sound of Silence

This weekend, my husband and I sent our son off to Grandma's so we could make some serious remodeling/cleaning/organizing progress around the house. Everything from outside work, work on a deck, to housecleaning, to bill paying and oil changes.

That doesn't mean we didn't have a little fun.

Saturday night our 'grown up' time was spent behaving like 4th graders. We stayed up late, ate pizza, drank too much soda, and watched the loudest, most violent movies we own (matrix marathon), and played them so loudly that we were expecting a call from police after reports of 'gunfire' in the neighborhood. Life after baby can still be fun, as long as you're willing to act like a kid!

It was a different story Sunday afternoon. At one point, we had a moment we've not had in almost a year. It was a SILENT moment. With our son at Grandma's & the dog at the groomers, we reveled in our silence for about three seconds---then decided it was TOO quiet. I'd be just fine without another one of those moments for a long long time.

Okay, just a few other notes to start the work week.

--Has any woman ever had a good experience with self tanners at home? I'm talking the lotion, the spray, etc. No matter how careful, I just seem to end up with uneven or worse yet, orange -y skin (only on the body parts I 'tan up' at 3 a.m.).

--Bubba plans to spoil the end of the new Harry Potter book for you. He found a rumored 'ending' on the website. If you are a fan don't go there. He's told me the ending and the secret is safe with me.

--Moms, do you ever get overwhelmed with all the ideas and advice on kids that you can find on the internet and in parenting magazines? I swear I have a library of parenting magazines that I'm afraid to throw out because who knows when I'll need that story about making your child happy on Tuesdays in the month of April or what your child should be doing by their 782nd day of life and what to do if they've not met those benchmarks.

---Talk to you soon!

You need to try DOVE self tanner lotion. It's AWESOME. No streaking and it goes on great and makes your skin look fantastic. I saw a nurse that had it "on" at Children's Hospital when my daughter was there and she told me Dove. It WORKS! Doesn't smell bad either. Try that! Much better than Jergens. i've recommended it to several people and they all LOVE it! Have a good one!

    Hi Kate:

I seem to have good luck with the Neutrogena tanners you can buy at the drugstore or Target/Walmart-- most recently bought the "micro-mist" spray (or whatever they call it.) Not bad -- I spray it on as instructed and THEN use both hands to rub it in....sort of like putting on lotion. I use circular type motion and that seems to help eliminate the streaks or uneveness. Still haven't mastered making the feet look natural...but that's all operator-error and not the fault of the product!

    Happy tanning!
