In Defense Of Make Up

Controversy on the show today that boiled down to men, women, and how we couldn't be more different YET...the same. Recently, I had to replace all of my makeup and accessories (some say misplaced or some say stolen). I'm talking everthing: brushes, blushes, moisturizer, foundations, eyeshadows....you name it. Price tag for everything...just under $200. While painful, I was proud of myself for getting quality cosmetics at lower prices. The guys on the show, J.R. and Bubba, thought it was OUTRAGEOUS to spend that much money. I did a little online research. Again to my surprise (a little here and there adds up to a lot), the average woman spends $40 to $60 a month on this stuff. Again for the ladies when you stop to think about it, you realize you probably fall into that category. Guys think it's INSANE! Unless it's golf, the game room, baseball, football, etc.

What it all really boiled down to is how both sexes will justify, rationalize, or just lie to spend money on the stuff we want.

Okay so if you have a beauty bargain, now's the time to share! Makeup, while fun, is one of those things that you just cringe when you have to spend a lot of money to get what you want.

Maybe you think I'm crazy to spend that much...well I know you've got a guilty pleasure. Time to confess...where you spend and make excuses to spend.

Kate, I totally understand your situation with makeup and its cost except my problem seems to be hair products. The price of shampoo and conditioner are getting ridiculous but its not just that. I have naturally curly hair so finding a mousse that doesnt cost $18.95 and still keeps the curl is a dreaful process. Not to mention what it takes when I straighten my hair. That includes the straighten gel and heat spray and then I have to buy the expensive iron so that I dont pull out chunks of my hair like I do with the cheaper ones. AH! Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth it! Thanks for the blog Kate!
