Is It Cheating If You Don't Read The Middle...

Have you read the last Harry Potter book? Consider this your own Pittsburgh/Potter chat room. I've now read the first 300 pages and the last 150. I'm working on the middle. Couple of thoughts to get started.

---So far my favorite part of the book has been when Harry entered the forest. Yes, I cried like a little girl, but I thought it was an amazing chapter in the book...one of the best chapters in all seven books.

---Thought the epilogue was cheesy, but as my husband reminded me, "children's book". Can't kill the hero in a children's book...

---Just when you thought the 'wizard fight' between Dumbledore and Voldemort in 'Phoenix' was awesome, here comes Mrs. Weasley putting the SMACKDOWN on Beatrix!!! Great moment in the book!

---Okay, your turn. Best moment, worst moment, what was YOUR ending?

It's Time For Equal Time...

You hear the stories, the accusations, the 'pet names' about Bubba's (my co-host's) wife, Tracy. Every day, Bubba's got a story about something his wife did, why she hates him, why or how she did something incorrectly, or worst of all, we hear stories about how he is KING OF HIS CASTLE.

On this blog, on a regular basis, you will now get the flip side (known as the TRUTH) from the woman herself, Tracy (a.k.a. Bubba's wife).

This decision came yesterday during a 'lunch summit' at the morning show's annual Kennywood Park Skip Day.

As morning show listeners began to quiz my co-host's wife over what was "real" and what was "not real" on our show, we realized that she needed an outlet where she can tell you the truth...about Bubba...because he won't...can't...and shouldn't.

Stay posted for Tracy's first post!

Vacation: Part One

One of the great perks of our jobs here on the morning show is that we do have a lot of vacation time. We are lucky enough to have a couple of weeks to hang at home, and if you want to get away, there's usually more time to do that as well.

At noon today, my 'hanging around town' vacation begins. A little baseball, some swimming, walking, a lot of SLEEP,and one giant highlight to the week. I just found out that next week (9 -14th) it's Mr. Rogers Days at Idewild Park!!! Is there anything better than taking your 11 month old to be terrorized by a 6 foot Purple Panda or talking Platypus?!?!?! I think not...

Hi, My name's Kate, and I'm addicted to lists...
This is a tough one for me. I'm going to go LIST FREE on my vacation. It will be a first. I've always been a list person. I list everything. Things I need to do at work. Things I need to do at home. Things I want to do. Groceries to buy. People to invite. Gifts to purchase. Things to do on vacation. Things to pack on vacation. Goals for the month & year. Life's goals. Yes, it's bad. Before I had our son, I used to be able to keep the lists in my head. That space is now occupied by formula powder to water ratios, the lyrics to Wiggles songs, and games that boost infant hand/eye coordination. So I now physically MAKE THE LISTS. They are everywhere. The car, desk, bathroom, nursery, on or in my wallet. I must free myself from the lists and I will make a Lohan like clean break from the lists while on this vacation.

Starting another topic on this blog is kind of like making a list...so I'm outta here. Have a great week and talk to you on the 16th!

Happy 5th of July!

Hope you had a great 4th of July...

--Was I the only one who thought the garbage had to be out today and started taking a look at the week ahead and then realized it was almost over... because is was Thursday not Monday and...oh, there I go...my head just popped off.

--Excitement at the house yesterday. An extension cord that leads to our pool pump caught on FIRE. I just happened to look out one of the windows to the backyard and saw SMOKE & FLAMES! My husband and I, being the fine tuned machine that we are, sprung into action. Yes that's right, we yelled at eachother about what to do as our son sat on his nursery floor playing with blocks, no doubt thinking to himself "Would someone like to secure the baby before running outside to put out a fire?". The situation, while scary (how many times have you and I left one of those pumps running unattended), was minor with very little damage.

--Life in the Sandbox. We've bought our son (11 mos. next week) a little sandbox. To our surprise and delight, he does not try to eat the sand by the handful. He does however, crawl out of the sandbox, head toward the flowerbed, and try to eat handfuls of dirt and mulch.

--Looking for Mom advice Question for you experienced Moms. When is a good time to introduce crayons? Anxious, jump the gun, newbie mom here has a pack of 8 'so big' washable crayolas waiting for John, but haven't tried them out yet.

--Looking For MOM group experiences If you are a working mom, do you belong to a MOM playgroup or organization? I am in the middle of two worlds. I get out of work too late to join a stay at home, meet in the morning, mom group. Is there such a thing for working moms that could only meet in the evening? In general, if you belong to a mom group, do you like the moms? Does it give you a nice break and chance to talk to adults? Do you like the kids in your group? Do your kids enjoy it? I'm looking for honest feedback on this one.
